Tinkering 101

The Tinkering Studio will be closed to the public this week as we are hosting a workshop that we think of as "Tinkering 101." It's our attempt to answer the question: how do you introduce a group of practitioners to the philosophy and work of tinkering? As with everything we do, this too is very much a work in progress, but we are getting better and better at developing a structure and an experiential arc that is designed to gently but swiftly lift people into a "tinkering disposition."

We started today by plunging right into one of our workhorse activity: Marble Machines. The creativity and enthusiasm that this activity generates never ceases to amaze me, and this group was no different. But the conversation that we had afterwards, thinking about the path we each took as learners in this activity, was particularly rich with ideas and insights, which we'll share over a series of posts over the next few days.

Stay tuned!
