Bruce Shapiro is a motion control artist, science educator, and the father of Eggbot.

"I have spent the past 25 years dedicated to exploring motion control as a new medium for artistic expression, building CNC art tools and kinetic sculpture that combine my love of art, science and education."

He created the original Eggbot in 1990 when he first became fascinated with controlling stepper motors from his computer. He has taught classes at the Science Museum of Minnesota, Exploratorium, and elsewhere using the eggbot to teach about electronics, programming, and robotics. In 2010, he teamed up with Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories, which led to its release as an open-source project and popular seller on their site.
